Owl Moon Activities for Kids - 2014-01-24 05:00:00-05
Owl Moon is one of my favorite books to read in January. I discovered Owl Moon at our public library, when my kids were young. I quickly fell in love with it. As I worked on this blog post, Hunter walked by & I asked if he remembered “this” book (pointing to Owl Moon). He grinned & said “yes”!
Owl Moon is about a dad who takes his son “owling” on a winter night. It’s a beautiful story of father and son sharing a special moment.
After re-reading Owl Moon, I was reminded of the trip we took to Lake Coeur D’Alene to watch owls…in the dead of winter.
We left the dock early in the morning & hoped we didn’t freeze. It’s cold on an Idahoan lake in January. Thank goodness there was a cabin that sold hot chocolate.
Although it took awhile, we finally saw owls from our boat. They weren’t as close as the owl in Owl Moon. However, we loved seeing them fly in the wild.
Have you read Owl Moon? If not, get a copy here and enjoy it with your kids.
After reading Owl Moon, you’ll enjoy our Owl Moon Pretzel activity for kids.
We made these with my kids, nephew & nieces. Even though they are older, they had fun making their own creation. Don’t worry if they aren’t perfect. You’ll see some creative owl pretzels below!
Too often, you only see the perfect craft or activity online. When your kids make this activity, it probably won’t look perfect. But, that’s OK. They’ll have fun and making a terrific family memory.
